The Truth About Celia - July 1st, 2009
Oh no, not the briar patch.
A) I am the worst Pete Yorn Fan ever, for I had no idea his new one was out. Perhaps I should fan him on Facebook, so I get alerts. (Dear Music people: this is the best idea ever.) I have Amazon gift cards on my desk at home, though, so I will resist actually buying it until I get home. Probably. (I mean, really, it's not like I won't find a use for the cards.)

B) So, last night I stepped on one of the grocery bags on my floor (the reusable green ones), and it had something lumpy in it. I picked it up (a minor miracle in itself, as despite all my talk about cleaning, my room is very messy. Clean-but-messy usually and rather pet-haired and messy right now.) But I picked it up, and opened it up, and found my work badge in it. "AHA," I thought. "This is very important, and I will need this to get into work tomorrow." And then I hung the green bag on the door handle and I haven't a clue where the badge ended up. I had assumed that I put it in my purse, but that is so not the case. Perhaps I put it in the larger bag my purse had been in at the time.

C) Work is...well, work. I am not hideously behind, as I'd feared. I am late with a project that is very important (of course. So my luck.) I am on time with pretty much everything else, and early with another. Most of the places where I am edging towards late are for things outside of my control (delayed input from others). So while today was a very stressful day for a first day back from Vacation, it was still doable. Just stressful.

D) I need to be better at eating consistent amounts throughout the day and day by day. I'm getting wicked mood swings lately because of poor eating habits. And surprisingly enough, when I eat appropriate amounts, I feel better overall. It's crazy. CRAZY. Remembering to eat is a little harder, given when I get most stressed at work (12:30-2:30, usually) but it's also really important, so I'm going to work on that a little.

E) I got sunburned at the Amusement park on Monday. Not badly, just a light l-shaped stripe on my neck and shoulder where my neckline shifted after I applied sunscreen. (maybe more of a field hockey stick shape, really.). I listened to an NPR thing this weekend about the proper application of sunscreen and the side effects of the sun. OMG, a good piece. It's here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105867717 Reading the comments, I think they make some good points, but at the same time, I really appreciated the questions in the interview. Also, I had no idea that sunscreen works by breaking UV light into red light. That means if you had the right camera or glasses or something, you could see it working on people, right? How cool is that?
